Briana and Jono’s Deux Belettes Wedding – featured on Polka Dot Bride

Briana & Jono chose to have their wedding at the stunning Deux Belettes; the venue is a 16th century style French Chateau. I have never seen a venue so amazing in my life. Van Middleton was the lucky photographer that got to capture all the special moments, the wedding was selected to be featured on Polka Dot Bride’s website.

Briana wanted her wedding makeup to be natural but still there, the eyes were the feature- we used soft gold tones to bring out her eyes and finished off the look with a peach on the cheeks and a soft pink lipstick.

Aleesha Darke worked her magic with the hair, she created beautiful up styles for the bridal party.

I was lucky enough to be a part of Briana & Jono’s wedding; the photos reflect how special the day really was.

How To Get Glowing Skin In 3 Months!

weddingmakeupgoldcoastMany brides book their facial in the week of their wedding… now this is a huge mistake. Facials draw out all of the nasty toxins from your pores to the surface of your skin. As a result, you’ll notice your skin breaks out shortly after a facial – which is the last thing you want just days before you walk down the aisle.
So what should a bride do in the lead up to the big day? Here is a brief guideline to start 3 months out from your wedding day, to ensure you have the glowing skin that you have always dreamed of!

3 months:

– Book an appointment with a dermatologist. They’ll examine your skin and recommend the correct products for your skin type.
– Purchase any recommended products. However, keep in mind that when you start using new skin care products, it is common that you may break out until your skin gets used to the products. This is why we leave plenty of time before the big day!
– Start a routine. Keep your fingers off your face, clean your makeup brushes and your pillowcases weekly. Bacteria causes breakouts so try to eliminate them in every area you can.
– If it fits into your budget you could consider microdermabrasion treatments monthly. These treatments use a gentle process; crystals are accelerated onto the skin’s surface to abrade layers of dead and damaged skin cells. The results are immediate. Your skin will be looking more youthful and stress-free!

1 month:

– Have 2 facials in the lead up to your wedding. The first one should be booked a month out and the second, two weeks out. A facial cleans, exfoliates and nourishes the skin, which promotes a clear, hydrated complexion.

– Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of fluids. Water helps keep your skin moisturised and it also helps with stress levels! If you are stressed, you are more likely to break out… so ensure you schedule in some much-needed relaxation time.

DIY Coconut & Honey Hair Mask

Restore and replenish dry damaged hair at home with this DIY coconut and honey hair mask. This mask is quick and easy and will restore your hair so it’s manageable again.
I have been doing these treatments once a month for the past three months after having the recipe recommended to me and I have seen a HUGE difference in my hair’s health. It is now strong and shiny and much easier to style. This recipe is a great natural conditioner and perfect for any hair type.

What you will need:
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp honey
Mixing bowl
Spoon
Towel
Shower cap

Directions:
– Mix the ingredients together, heat in the microwave until warm
– Apply to hair – focusing on the mid length to ends
– Place a shower cap over the hair to open the pores and allow the oil to penetrate deeper.
– Leave on for 30-40 minutes. Wash out with shampoo, then condition and style as usual.

For more intense conditioning you can leave the treatment in overnight!

Megan ‘she knew just how to enhance each of the girls best features’

‘Melanie did an absolutely amazing job on my wedding day. Myself, my bridesmaids and junior bridesmaids and both the mums had their makeup done. Everyone was extremely happy with their makeup. Everyone made comments about how beautfiul the makeup was, and it stayed put all night long – even through the tears! Melanie listened perfectly to what little direction I gave her, and she knew just how to enhance each of the girls best features. I honestly wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Melanie to anyone, she is a gorgeous girl, and she is very calm and nothing is too much trouble for her! Thank you so much for being a part of our wedding!!’ – Megan, Bride.

Why is my Wedding Makeup Artist arriving so early?

Over the years I have been doing weddings I have lost count of the amount of times I have been asked this question. I thought I would fill you in and give you a rough breakdown of the day:

Imagine that your ceremony is at 2pm and you have 5 girls in your bridal party.

8am- Makeup artist arrives, sets up and starts first makeup

9am- Second makeup application

9:45am – Third makeup application

10:30am- Fourth makeup application

11:15am- Fifth makeup application

12pm- Photographer arrives

Each makeup application takes roughly 45 minutes; I also like to leave around 30 minutes spare just in case someone is running late. Your photographer also needs time to take photos of you and your bridal party getting ready, and you getting in your dress before you all arrive at the ceremony.

It is best to start a little earlier in the morning than to have you all rushing around frantically at the last minute – we want you to be as relaxed as possible on your big day!
